KAREN: how a tooth became an AI animated film

31 July 2026 · Enter Studio

One grumpy tiger. One necklace that does not suit him at all. And one tooth that suddenly makes the whole story click.

“Cartier with a twist”

The first spark came from the cinematic world of Cartier and its iconic big cat. We turned that image inside out. Instead of an untouchable symbol of predatory elegance, our hero is a round, permanently unimpressed tiger with very specific taste. He is not easily impressed, and he certainly will not wear the first piece of jewellery he is given.

That became our internal formula: Cartier with a twist — luxurious as a world, but warm, comic and created for a small boutique jeweller where every piece has a character of its own.

Visual development of the grumpy tiger for KAREN
The character had to be funny before he even moved: grumpy by default and genuinely happy only when he finds the piece that feels like his.

The tooth that unlocked the story

Several early ideas did not give the tiger a real reason to go anywhere. Then we saw an actual KAREN necklace with a large natural tooth in a gold setting. The reaction was immediate: this is exactly what a tiger would want to wear.

The object created the plot. At the beginning, the tiger receives a beautiful but impersonal necklace made of branches and leaves. He tries it on, studies his reflection and realises it simply is not his. Later, behind the KAREN shop window, he sees the tooth — and before he even puts it on, the reflection shows a perfect match.

A Sofia shop, transported into the jungle

The tiny shop discovered by the tiger is not an arbitrary fantasy set. It is based on the real KAREN store in central Sofia — the wood, burgundy tones, warm light, glass displays and the feeling of a place filled with one-off discoveries.

We transported that character into a rock in the middle of the jungle and styled it like a frame from a feature animation. The snow is the deliberate absurdity in the world: luxurious winter magic appearing somewhere it should never fall. Snow in the jungle — exactly as serious and exactly as funny as it needs to be.

AI was the material, not the story

The film uses generative AI for visual development and animation, but it is not the result of one button or one instruction. The character had to remain recognisable, objects needed physical logic, eyelines had to lead the action and the comedy needed precise timing. That required shot direction, selection, editing, music and sound — the same decisions that make any screen story convincing.

Technology can produce images, but the grumpy tiger, the real tooth necklace and the snow in the jungle are what turn them into a film. AI expanded the visual possibilities; direction, character and rhythm gave them meaning.

Made for the character

The ending naturally led to the line: “Handcrafted, made for you.” It does not explain the joke; it completes it. The first necklace is beautiful but generic. The tooth is different — it fits the character.

That is what we wanted to express about KAREN: jewellery is not merely an object, but something in which a person recognises themselves. Even when that person is a very particular tiger.
